It all begins

Free bees, a very slow drive home, and one hive in the sun.

Fresh off our beekeeping training, we were lucky enough to be offered some free bees. We had not planned on getting any yet, but it was too good an offer to miss.

A green hive wrapped in an orange strap and seatbelted into the back seat of a car.
One hive, one very careful driver.

Off we went to collect them, and then came the slowest car journey home ever.

Once home, the bees had time to orientate and find their wings before we moved them into their new home.

Bees gathered at the round metal entrance disc of a pale green hive.
Finding their bearings at the entrance.
A green hive on a stand between pallet fencing, with a field behind.
The hive in its first spot.

At this point in the journey everything seems great. The sun is out, the bees are settling, we have one hive, and all seems good in the world.

Follow the hives.
